Suzuki Motorcycle India has teased a new upcoming motorcycle on its social media pages. Judging by the number of references made in the video to a Japanese Katana sword and a few glimpses of the bike, it is most likely the 2022 Suzuki Katana that was unveiled in February this year. The motorcycle with one of the most iconic monikers under Suzuki’s lineup, the MY2022 Katana has received a number of minor updates.

The Katana which has now made its transition to Euro V emission standards gets revisions to its performance. It is powered by a 999cc inline-four engine that makes 150 hp (2 hp more than the previous model). This is thanks to a new intake and exhaust cams, valve springs, and airbox.

The 2022 Katana also features a bidirectional quickshifter as standard, has a revised throttle-by-wire, and the slipper clutch and the five-level traction control have been reworked as well.

The instrument cluster onboard the 2022 Suzuki Katana has been upgraded with a new Night Mode. Visual enhancements include a gold finish to the front forks, red on the rear shock, a two-tone seat, and colour coordination on the wheels. Plus, there are two new paint schemes to pick from – Solid Iron Gray and Metallic Matte Stellar Blue.

Talks about the Katana arriving in India have been on since SMI showcased one during the 2020 Auto Expo. After much delay due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the Katana is now finally heading to India in its upgraded 2022 avatar. Expect a price tag north of Rs 11 lakh (ex-showroom).
