It will continue to be powered by a 4080W BLDC motor powered by a 50.4V lithium ion battery. The set up produces 16.2 Nm of torque and can deliver up to 90 km of range ion a full charge. Bajaj Auto also offers a 3 year, 50,000 km warranty on the IP67 rated battery. Since its launch back in 2019, the company has reportedly sold over 14,000 units of the Chetak electric.
Bajaj Auto is currently setting up its new manufacturing plant in Akurdi, Pune. The plant is capable of producing up to 5 lakh EVs a year. Production for the Chetak electric and the company’s other brands such as KTM, Husqvarna and Gas Gas are all expected to eventually take place at this plant. The facility is reportedly spread across half a million square feet and will generate employment for over 11,000 people.
