Chennai: Made in Hosur BMW G310 RR motorcycles will soon roll out in China. BMW Motorrad India, which launched the BMW G 310 RR in India on Friday, will roll out this latest model in the 310 series in China next year paving the way for Hosur manufactured G310RR bikes to be launched in the Chinese market.

India is the first country to welcome the third and latest member of the BMW 310 model series and is also the largest market for the 310 range worldwide. The BMW G310 RR motorcycle is being made in TVS Motor Company’s Hosur plant as part of a collaboration between BMW Motorrad and TVS.

Said Markus Mueller-Zambre, head of region Asia, China, Pacific & Africa at BMW Motorrad: “Our exports of the BMW G310 RR will start with the China market which will be the second market after India where this product will be launched in Q2 of 2023. The G310RR will only be made in India and the bikes to be sold in China will go from India as part of our cooperation with TVS Motor Company.”

India is the largest market for the 310 series of motorcycles with cumulative numbers of over 15,000 units out of the 50,000 units sold worldwide. China is the second largest market with cumulative sales of 6,000 units while Latin America’s 1,200-1,300 cumulative numbers come in third. Other big markets are Europe, Philippines and South Africa. The just-launched G310 RR has received more than 500 pre-bookings. “The market has seen good performance in the first half year and we want the market to grow like last year,” added Mueller-Zambre.

The BMW G 310 RR is jointly developed by BMW Motorrad and cooperation partner TVS Motor Company. The BMW G 310 RR is locally produced in India along with BMW G 310 R and G 310 GS by TVS Motor Company in Hosur, Tamil Nadu.
