Bengaluru-based EV startup Simple Energy is set to begin retail of its very first and flagship electric scooter, Simple One. The startup had opened pre-bookings for the One electric scooter at Rs 1,947 and has now claimed that it has gathered 65,000 pre-bookings so far. The scooter will initially be made available in 13 cities across India and deliveries are expected to begin by October this year.

Simple have completed test rides of the One electric scooter in Bengaluru. The registration window for the first ride experience to the public was opened in June 2022. The startup states that it attracted over 20,000 registrations within the first 24 hours, adding that some 1,000 prospective buyers took part in the experiential event that was held in Bengaluru.

The first phase of test rides began in Bengaluru. It will be followed by Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune, Panaji, and other cities in the upcoming weeks. Simple also intends to conduct tests in several more cities in the coming months.

The deliveries begin soon after the test rides, with the scooter being priced at Rs 1,09,999 (ex-showroom) for the standard variant with a claimed real-world range of 203 km, and Rs 1,44,999 (ex-showroom) for the long-range configuration with over 300 km of range via an additional battery pack.

The Simple One electric scooter will be produced at the company’s manufacturing facility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. Alongside this, it has also commissioned a second plant in Dharmapuri, Tamil Nadu, which will spread across 600 acres and have a capacity of 12.5 million units annually.
