Hyundai Motor UK has been named Eco Fleet Manufacturer of the Year at the 2022 Business Car Awards, a celebration of excellence in the fleet sector judged by a panel of independent experts.

The Eco Fleet Manufacturer of the Year award is designed to recognise the car brand that offers fleet partners the best options to reduce their carbon footprint, while also demonstrating a holistic approach to addressing environmental concerns in the wider business.

The fleet-friendly choice offered by Hyundai includes a range of electric vehicles (EV), plug-in hybrid (PHEV) , self-charging hybrid, 48v hybrid and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, which includes the IONIQ 5 and KONA Electric.

Hyundai’s current order bank from UK corporate customers at 76% for EV and PHEV models – a significant increase from the 51% of 2021. Across Europe, it has helped to deliver estimated average passenger fleet CO2 emissions of 90g/km in 2021, a reduction of more than a third on the 2010 figure of 134g/km.

“The fact that Hyundai offers fully electric, plug-in hybrid and hybrid models has given fleet buyers the choice they need and all with minimal waiting times,” said Martyn Collins, Business Car editor.

“On top of impressive product, Hyundai has taken time to educate buyers on how best to use them, by providing clear information on the financial and eco-friendly benefits of an electrified fleet.”

Leading the way is the fully electric IONIQ 5, the 2022 World Car of the Year, which delivers for fleet users fast charging capability, a spacious interior courtesy of the E-GMP platform, and advanced cabin tech such as V2L, which makes it easy to charge a laptop and conduct business in the vehicle.

The IONIQ 5 also uses sustainable materials, such as recycled PET bottles for the seat fabric, bio components extracted from sugar cane and corn for the seat, headlining and carpet fabric, and recycled paperette for the door detailing.

The Business Car award also recognises Hyundai’s commitment to advising customers how to get the most out of its vehicles, providing extra impetus for companies to quickly de-carbonise their fleets. This is demonstrated via the new Hyundai Business brand, which is hosted in an all-new fleet section of the Hyundai UK website that includes whole life cost calculators, BiK rates and competitor comparison tools.

“We are delighted to receive this award from the experts at Business Car, which recognises the effort we have made to further evolve our fleet services over the past few years in tandem with offering a cutting-edge range of vehicles,” said Ashley Andrew, Managing Director, Hyundai Motor UK.

“From fully electric vehicles to self-charging and plug-in hybrids, Hyundai has an outstanding line-up of cars that can cut customers’ carbon footprints with no compromises, and that is being reflected in an increasing number of orders from businesses and corporations who care about their environmental impact.”

The recognition from Business Car follows a string of other fleet successes for Hyundai. Earlier this year, it was named Most Improved Fleet Manufacturer at the Fleet News Awards, while the KONA Electric also picked up an award for Best Zero Emission Car Under £40,000.

Meanwhile, the IONIQ 5 has won a host of company car awards, including Carbuyer Best Company Car 2022. Company Car and Van Car of the Year and overall winner in the 2022 Company Car Today CCT 100 Awards.
