New Delhi: Japanese multinational corporation Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt Ltd (SMIPL) on Friday reported a 37% rise in total sales at 68,018 units in June. The company had sold 49,662 units in June 2021, Suzuki Motorcycle India said in a statement.

In the domestic market, the Japanese two-wheelers maker dispatched 52,929 units as compared with 40,474 units in the year-ago period, the company said.

Exports stood at 15,089 units last month. The same was at 9,188 units in the preceding year.

Satoshi Uchida, Managing Director, Suzuki Motorcycle India said that the consistent sales performance is the result of growing demand for the company’s two-wheelers in India and in the overseas markets.

“As a responsible company, we remain committed to delivering quality products to all our customers,” he added.

On the other hand, motorcycle maker Royal Enfield today reported a 43% increase in total sales at 61,407 units in June. The company had sold a total of 43,048 units in the year-ago period, it said in a statement.

Domestic sales last month were at 50,265 units as against 35,815 units in June 2021, a growth of 40%, a company filing stated.

Exports were up 54% at 11,142 units. The same stood at 7,233 units in the same month last year, it added.

The company’s total two-wheeler sales registered a growth of 23% with sales increasing from 238,092 units in June 2021 to 293,715 units in June 2022.

Sequentially, the company recorded a growth of 17% over Q4 FY22, when it sold 11.89 lakh units.

Total two-wheeler volumes, including exports, in June 2022 stood at 315,948 vehicles, an increase of 2% over 310,578 units in the same month a year ago.
